Welcome to My Professional Blog

Hello World,

My name is Kirsten, and I am a BioMolecular Engineer currently earning my certification in science education from UW-Milwaukee's MACSTEP program.

My love for both science and education began when I was a child; I was homeschooled until high school, and the interactive and creative learning opportunities I had growing up cultivated in me a love of education and life long learning. I discovered my love for the STEM fields when I was in college, and in my free-time sought a triple minor in Chemistry, Math, and Physics in addition to my Biomolecular engineering degree. Over the past 15 years, I have been blessed with the opportunities to work with youth from a variety of ages and backgrounds, and have found that my calling is not in a corporate engineering office, but in the classroom. My dream career has become to be to bring my love of education together with my passion for the STEM fields.  My goal is to use my skills, talents, and education to connect with my students, pass on the love of learning and education, and help cultivate a love of the sciences in the next generation.

After completion of the program, I will be certified to teach Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science at the secondary level, with the professional goal for the future to become a licensed high school chemistry and physics teacher in the state of Wisconsin.

When I am not at work, and when I am not too busy pursuing my education career, I like to relax by practicing my art. I enjoy working with traditional media to make colorful artworks using markers in my free time. This year has been busy, but even so I was able to finish a couple drawings. Below is a the drawing I completed for a charity artbook back in February. :D

  3. Hi Kiki. At some point, we should discuss different options for integrating art, if interested. In the meantime, check out this organization on campus. It is meant to support teachers teaching in and through the arts. A blend of science and art could be delicious!
